Aspen Discovery Monthly Release Notes

Aspen Discovery releases new features, enhancements, and patches on a monthly basis. Below are highlights from the full release notes. The highlights focus on major enhancements, new settings and permissions, and big changes with product integrations. The full release notes for each month are linked with the relevant highlights. 
 
24.04 Highlights
Administration
  • 500 field should not be used to index a Blu-ray/DVD and a 4k/Blu-ray combo pack.
  • Descriptions fixed in admin dashboard
  • Hyphens no longer stripped from lib and location codes while determining scoping info
  • Arial font replaced with the Arimo font
  • Logic changed and updated for how the name for an owning library for a marc holding is displayed
  • Matches the rules for detriming cope when it is determining active search location
  • There's now setup a unit test framework for Aspen APIs that use a standardized database
  • Old and unmaintainted unit test has been removed

Koha
  • Will now sort with main library listed first and then alphabetically when showing libraries for self-registration
  • Will now permit the selection of Digest checkbox for Holds Filled for Message Settings
Sierra
  • Handles MARC holdings that are missing MARC tags associated with them
  • Loading location for additional copies fixed


Aspen LiDA
  • Bug fix to rectify issues with browsers not closing and disallowing additional browsers to open
  • Bug fix to stop Holds screen from loading incorrect cover images
  • LiDA will not allow patron login if a library is in offline mode
  • Permission Dashboard has been added which details what is turned on and off and how to update it
General Updates
  • Will now auto push docker images to dockerhub and quay on commits
  • Will now show total holds in the ILS dashboard

    • getLinkedAccounts now reloads contact info for each linked account

  • When one updates patron infor with the bypass review queue off, it'll look for more error messages

  • Events now load into Browse Catagories
  • Palace Project items are now interactable and managable
  • UI enhancements for tablet users, specifically on the Discover, Search, and Grouped Work screens
  • References to Overdrive or Axis 360 now display as Libby, the library's custom reader name, and/or Boundless
  • New Settings for seperate Registration Body field
    • Events > LibraryMarket - LibraryCalendar Settings > Registration Information to Show in Aspen LiDA
    • Events > Springshare - LibCal Settings > Registration Information to Show in Aspen LiDA

  • Patrons may toggle in My Preferences whether they want to see Checkout and Hold Actions in search results and full record pages.
  • Removing a managing linked account in both Aspen Discovery and Aspen LiDA will now send an app notification.
  • Removing and Adding a linked account in will now display an alert in Aspen Discovery.

  • Patron barcodes now quoted for cases where barcodes may be non-numeric
  • Unapi now receives bib records during indexing insteada of supercat
  • Config options for when fetching bibs from Evergreen
    • On failure, can set max number of retries.
    • Can set how many miliseconds between attempted bib fetching.
    • Will wait 1 second if rate limit response (502) is found.
  • Will send opac_renewal flag if title is renewed
  • Log invalid MARC data when bib cannot be parsed from unapi instead of as an error
Hoopla
  • Will now throw "invalid record" message when attempting to open an inactive record while Hoopla module is not active.

Accessibility
  • Border added to yellow/warning-styled labels to increase contrast. Border color is inherited from the theme "Warning" button border color.

  • Username and barcode fields are now split in database for Users.
  • Display order updated for “Where is it?” dialog. Order is defined as:
