Evergreen New Feature Review Guide (3.13)

Evergreen 3.13
Evergreen 3.13 was released in June 2024. New features and enhancements from the Evergreen 3.13 release are listed below. Descriptions are provided for the highlighted components and they are grouped together by Evergreen module. Links to supplemental documentation and individual handouts are also provided. Accessibility
Various Accessibility Improvements
(Release Notes)
This release includes several improvements to the accessibility of Evergreen! Included in this release are changes to the Logo, drop shadows to various dropdown menus and tabs, and fixes to stylings across the board.
Acquisitions
Angularized Invoices, Claims, MARC Federated Search, and Z39.50 Search

A huge update has arrived for these components of Evergreen. Invoices and Claims have been angularized and had improvements implemented. MARC Federated Search and Z39.50 Search have also seen some bugfixes along with being ported to angular. For MARC Batch Import/Export and Load MARC Order Records interfaces, there have been improvements that allow for background processing of record imports.

SFTP Transfer of EDI Order Data Fixes

In order to bring STFP up to where it needs to be, the transfer mechanism has been repaired, making it work with most vendors who require usernames and passwords for authentification.

Support Script for marc_export Will Check for Required IDs

The marc_export script now exists if it is expecting IDs to be passed and they end up not bieng found.

Angularized Circulation Policy Editor

The Circulation Policies interface has been brought over to angular. Additional bugfixes have been implemented as well.
Architecture
IDL Has Been Improved and Tidied Up
(Release Notes)

The IDL (fm_IDL.xml) has seen some improvements and fixes.
  • Additional fields have been set to required
  • Line wrap and spacing now match the output of libxml2
  • A couple of schema validation errors have been fixed as well
Cataloging
Revised Enhanced MARC Editor

Significant revisions have been made the the Enchanced MARC Editor.
  • Inputs for tags, indicators, and subfield codes now use comboboxes instead of contextual menus
  • Fields can not be rearranged with drag and drop
  • Move button now supports up and down arrow key movement
  • Subfields are now treated as a group when using a keyboard to navigate the Editor
  • The white background has been changed to gray to reduce eyestrain
  • Help button now toggles the display of inline MARC references specficially for fields 1xx-8xx. This also includes keyboard shortcuts at the top
Restored the Batch Action "None" Option

For the prefix and suffix fields, the option has been restored for Holdings Editor's Batch Actions.

URL for Patron View Discovery Layer

Org unit setting added where one may enter the URL with a pattern placeholder for the bib record ID. An example would be: https://example.com/Record/{eg_record_id}.

Fixes for Item Alerts

  • The invocation of the (Manage) Item Alerts dialog in the Holdings Editor has been fixed
  • Batch Edit for Item Alerts in the Holdings Editor added
  • Managed Alerts button added to the Item Alerts dialog while alert displays in Angular interfaces
  • TypeError: defaults to nul exception being missing for Default Item Alert Type preferences has been fixed
  • Changes Pending indicator for Holdings Editor added
Read-Only view for Holdings Editor Added

Read-only view added for the Holdings Editor for when there are not sufficient permissions appropriately scoped to UPDATE_COPY for all items being edited.

New Library Settings for Example and/or Regex Validation for Default and SMS Phone Fields

Button Colors Improved

Button color in the staff client for normal actions has been changed from yellow to light grey. There is a variant that turns red on hover or activation for actions that remove data or clear form input.

Search for Library Group and Shelving Location Group

This update includes a new dropdown when in-scope Library Groups and Shelving Location Groups (optionally) are present. Included in this update is a new Global Flag called "staff.search.shelving_location_groups_with_lassos" that, when disabled, will not include Shelving Location Groups in the new filter dropdown.

"Clear Added Content Cache" Added

A "Clear Added Content Cache" item has been added to the Other Actions menu in the Staff Catalog Record page.

Carousel Creation From Item Bucket or Item Status

Both the Item status interface and the item bucket interface have added options ("Create Carousel from Selected Items" and "Create Carousel from Bucket" respectively) that allow users to create carousels.

Patrons Can Edit Preferred Name

By going through OPAC → My Account → Preferences → Personal Information, patrons can personally edit their preferred name.

Reporter Angularized

All Reporter interfaces minus the report output interface have been angularized. Additional functionality has been added as well, such as:
  • Field display order and output sort order have been separated
  • Simplification of nullability
  • Visible list of Reports that make use of a Template as well as the Outputs that a Report generates
  • When supported by backend services, Brwose and Search Grids in use by the report management interface are sortable besides for being sortable by relevant timestamp

Support for SIP2Mediator

Back-end functionality to integrate with SIP2Mediator added to Evergreen. This also include a tool called SIP Filters.

Evergreen Manual Generated Locally
